Fear of Heights and Shadow Shot Sunday
I like architecture. I often stop to admire a building both for its design and its materials. The other day I was watching a construction worker on a high rise near our apartment. He was about nine floors high walking quickly but carefully along a steel I-Beam. He kept his safety lead hooked to the base wire. As he moved along the beam, he'd unhook and rehook his lead. I just thought how amazing it is for somebody to work that high up. I could never do that job. I get nervous just standing close to the balcony ledge.
I have never been in a building higher than 30 floors. And I could never have an apartment higher than the 10th floor. Although, I am sure the view from a high- rise apartment would be beautiful.
I took the above shot on a sunny day. This view is from the inside of a building on the second floor. For more shadow shots and information on how to join this fun group, visit Hey Harriet's blog.

What a fascinating shadow shot of an amazing looking building. How cool that it's all blue! And that's the inside? Wow!
I too share your fear of heights. Strangely I didn't as a child but now I do. Weird.
I hope you're having an awesome weekend :)
That is a really cool shot! I could never be up that high either...let alone work. I would no way be able to even move!!
That is one awesome shadow shot!
Beautiful shadows in this photo. It is amazing to watch people work so high up, isn't it?
What an arty set of shadows! I too cannot handle heights too well, and yet I love flying in a plane!
Love this shot - very cool shadows...we love the curved shadows on the straight lines!
We don't know how people can walk around up there like that - we both are queezy when it gets too high!
Have a great weekend!

The colors of blue in this shot are just fabulous and so geometric in form, great shot!
I love the cool, purply shadow colors.
Love the line play in this! We all have phobias of sorts. Mine is small spaces like elevators. I've been sick sry I haven't been around sooner.
Yea, am uncomfy for heights but looking at that spectacular building is amazing.
Enjoy ur SSS...
greetings from chilly Stockholm
What a wonderful shot, all the lines are amazing, i'm with you, not the job for me up that high!!
Cool shadows! Very interesting architecture..has a modern industrial feel about it..fascinating! Happy Sunday :D
thanks for going out on a limb to get this cool looking monochromatic shot. This is neat!
Fascinating photo.

Amazing shadow shot, I love the pattern created.
I am very fearful of heights. I sometimes watch the painters who climb, year round, on the golden gate bridge. Brave souls they are.
I couldn't visit my M-I-L in hospital once because her room was too high up with large windows, I was spooked.
Nice eye on the pattern of the shot. These types are always so interesting to me. Too many people walk by without even noticing - so great job!
What a great shot..wonderful..
I am like you, don't like heights..
Very nice shot, and the shadows really make it great. Don't give into your fear, there are some great sights from high up. You could find you love it! You won't fall.
I feel the same away about architectural shots!
TY for peepin back.
Hope you have a nice day.
Cheers from chilly Stockholm...
Living high...so beautiful. I love it.
Thanks everyone for coming by.
Sara, you are right about not giving in to unfounded fears. Maybe one day, I will challenge that U-shaped lookout that hangs (with a clear glass floor) over the Grand Canyon.
Sweet Repose and Harriet, I think the blue is the reflection from the glass and the camera setting I chose. I forgot to make a note of that in my original post.
Very complicated shot - very nice.
and yes, wouldn't that Grand Canyon lookout be the ultimate test to get over a fear of heights?
thanks for sharing,
Faye
