Sitting under the Cherry Blossoms

We were really lucky to have perfect Spring weather on Monday with shadows galore under the flowering trees. Most areas that have Cherry Blossoms will set up food stalls selling typical festival food: YakiSoba (fried noodles), yakitori (chicken on a stick) , okonomiyaki (egg and cabbage omelette). That area is usually busy.

My husband and I usually try to find a quiet area. Finding a secluded spot is easy when you have 1000 cherry trees to choose from! They stretch for more than 2 kilometres along a river.

Beautiful shadow shots! Beautiful shots, period! Love the cherry trees and the mountains in the distance! Happy SSS!
Oh, these photos bring back such fond memories. When I was in the eleventh grade I went to Japan. I stayed overnight with a host family. They took me to a cherry blossom festival. We had a picnic right under those beautiful trees! I vowed that someday I would return to Japan and picnic again beneath the cherry blossoms. That was 15 years ago. I haven't gotten a chance to go back yet. But, thanks for taking me back for just a moment.

Stunning images - how fortunate you are to be able to see them first-hand. I guess the warmer weather can't be too far away.

Blue-eyed Siamese Cat flies to Japan

Today was filled with my art and time with Sputnik. She was bathing herself which gave me the chance to catch a photo of her. I actually adopted Sputnik as a kitten in 1998 when I was living in Mexico. She made the long trip with me to Japan on July 25, 2004. It took me about 6 months to plan the logistics of bringing her from Mexico to Japan. Since I had to fly via the U.S. on Mexicana Airlines and Korean Airlines, that meant 4 countries and two airlines would need to approve her transport. There were many details to keep track of for each country and airline. After 6 months of stressful planning, 16 hours of two airline flights and layovers, She made it to Japan safely! Korean Air allowed her to fly with me as my carry-on luggage, which was a relief for me. No worrying about whether she was scared or left at the Los Angeles airport! I didn't give her any tranquilizer to sedate her. Yet, she was quiet the entire flight and went unnoticed by other passengers. I h
