Waiting, A Tunic and The Japan Post Office

I love shopping at Etsy. I usually buy handmade soap and lotion, but recently I bought a handmade tunic from India. It arrived on April 7, but I was taking a nap so I didn't hear the doorbell. I am not sure how it works in other countries, but in Japan, the postal worker leaves a card with details about your package and a telephone number to call for re-delivery. I called the 24 hour automated hotline and rescheduled the delivery for April 9th, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. This week's shadow shot is of the envelope and tag that the post office added for the redelivery. The red kanji-chinese characters say "afternoon."

By the way, I am in love with the tunic! The cotton material and embroidered design are beautiful.

Shadow Shot Sunday is hosted by Hey Harriet. Visit her blog for more shadow shots.

I love the envelope it is a little work of art. The envelopes that come to my house are much more boring and pedestrian. And yes I am going right now to check out that tunic. We are a nosy bunch aren't we!

Subtle shadow. Works for me!
This is a great shot...I love that the shadow is only incidental. I really like 'found art' and this is a great example!

Lovely subtle shadows and what a beautiful tunic. I agree with BLOGitse about you posting a pic of you wearing it!

I like the way your postal system works. Over here if they deliver a package when not home they leave a card instucting us to collect it from the Post Office. I'd prefer to have the re-delivery option! We're a lazy bunch over here ;)
Cool tunic and neat shadow shot. I love the writing...very exotic to me. Much more artistic looking than our letters.
Very pretty - you could almost frame it for some artwork couldn't you? Don't you just love finding fun things on Etsy? This tunic is so pretty - love the colors & patterns on the neck & bottom!
Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Cat Drawing, Sunday Sketches

Sputnik, February 05, 2011, pencil on paper While Sputnik was getting ready to curl up on her bed, I drew this quick sketch of her. To view more sketches, hop over to Sophia's blog .

Blue-eyed Siamese Cat flies to Japan

Today was filled with my art and time with Sputnik. She was bathing herself which gave me the chance to catch a photo of her. I actually adopted Sputnik as a kitten in 1998 when I was living in Mexico. She made the long trip with me to Japan on July 25, 2004. It took me about 6 months to plan the logistics of bringing her from Mexico to Japan. Since I had to fly via the U.S. on Mexicana Airlines and Korean Airlines, that meant 4 countries and two airlines would need to approve her transport. There were many details to keep track of for each country and airline. After 6 months of stressful planning, 16 hours of two airline flights and layovers, She made it to Japan safely! Korean Air allowed her to fly with me as my carry-on luggage, which was a relief for me. No worrying about whether she was scared or left at the Los Angeles airport! I didn't give her any tranquilizer to sedate her. Yet, she was quiet the entire flight and went unnoticed by other passengers. I h
