Shadows and Challenging your Boundaries

For the first couple of months in our new rental house, Sputnik would plant herself at the top of the stairs and cry for me to come back upstairs. We tried different methods of coaxing her into coming downstairs and decided time would tell. One day as I was in the kitchen, I saw something move across the floor and realized it was my cat. She had made it downstairs on her own. Now she explores the whole house, usually at night, when all is quiet. She's reminded me that sometimes the limitations I think I have are all in my mind.

(just a note that I was a 1/3 of the way up the stairs when I took this photo.)

Cats are very particular - eventually. I think you're right about limitations are mostly self-imposed. I really love this photo, the browns are really warm and the composition is really extraordinary.

This kitty just needed to find her own way, with encouragement from. Perhaps you applied just enough tough love that she was determined to make the trek downstairs. What a fine kitty!

I never knew a cat that wouldn't just fling itself down a flight of steps anxious to explore the territory...that's funny!

Love that shot of Sputnik at the top of the stairs! I'm glad she's feeling a little more comfortable & is starting to explore her space. Cats are funny little things that way. They really don't like change & it takes them a while to adapt to a new home. Unlike big silly goofy dogs who are down the street and exploring the backyards of neighbours as soon as your back is turned...

Beautiful shot of Sputnik. I love the way the light fades to white up there. I am glad she has found the courage to come downstairs now!

Those stairs look so huge with the tiny face peering from the top! And the shadowy stairs highlight the light round the little one!

Cats are strange little creatures aren't they? I love the photo. It does look like a big, scary staircase from that angle!

We can learn a lot from our animals and we can learn a lot from observing life, as you have done here. Kudos to you for your patience! And yes about the mind creating our boundaries. I believe there is a saying attributed to the Buddha that goes something like, "With our minds we create our world."

Cats are very specific - finally. I think you're correct about restrictions are mostly self-imposed. I really adore this picture, the browns are really hot and the composition is really extraordinary.
