Sumi Ink and Watercolor Figure Painting on Paper

figure abstract 2

I continue to explore patterns found in Ukiyo-e woodblock prints as the abstract background to my figure paintings. Common themes that I'm interested in are sakura-cherry blossoms, lotus flowers, abstract line patterns, and Koi.

Very nice, I really love your figures and the backgrounds are great. I have just started playing around with some sumi paintings, it is quite fun but takes a lot of practice I am finding out.

Very interesting combination.
Sprayed with a protective sealant and mounted onto Washi paper. Signed, titled and dated on the back with initials on front. Please note there is approximately a 2mm white border on this painting(not shown) to allow for framing.

Married Shadows

My husband and I haven't had a T.V. for the last 15 years, maybe more, so we often go to see movies at the Cinema. The last couple of ones that I've enjoyed have been Transformers II and Terminator IV. Two more of my favorites are Slumdog Millionare and Milk. These latter two were well done movies from all angles (acting, script, cinematography). This is us after an afternoon at the movies and eating out. We had just come from Starbucks and were heading to the train station. For more shadow shots and to learn how to join this Meme, please visit Hey Harriet's blog .
