Cycling days

This week's shadow shot catches us on bikes.  In the evenings, we take a long ride out on a bike path that starts from a huge park and leads out into the valley.

Thanks to The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust, the bikes-only path has been saved and expanded to include a horse trail.
San Joaquin Valley

Looking to the west has spectacular views of farmland, waterways and wildlife.   Looking North, on a clear day, you can see the foothills and snowcapped mountains.  It's how I remember the the valley when I'd ride out for hours as a university student, and I'm glad to see some of it's been saved despite the city's expansion.

The river is an oasis in an arid place. The brown rock in the background is supplanted by the lush riverbank. The shadow of the riders showcases a fine day to ride and view the beautiful countryside...

Cool shadows, lovely landscape. As much of California has been lost to strip malls etc., it's heartening to see efforts like this one helping to save what's left of the natural landscape.

I love your shadowy selves captured on bikes against that lovely golden grass. And the river valley shot is spectacular. Ah for California, although we are having a very California summer here in BC

Nice shadow shot. And, if the other picture is the view along your bike ride, then you have one beautiful bike path. Thanks for sharing!!
Very nice shadows. We have a similar place here in Fallbrook. Thank heaven some of this is being saved, thanks to so many volunteers.
Juana, come on over and claim your prize from a couple of weeks ago. Click on either of our etsy sites and choose something in the $10 price range. (I know - big deal!) You were the second prize winner.
P.S. If you see anything you like on either of the etsy sites- tell me and I'll order it for you. I know you might not like any of the vintage things but if you do it's yours. A thank you for guessing what the shadow was and commenting.

Blue-eyed Siamese Cat flies to Japan

Today was filled with my art and time with Sputnik. She was bathing herself which gave me the chance to catch a photo of her. I actually adopted Sputnik as a kitten in 1998 when I was living in Mexico. She made the long trip with me to Japan on July 25, 2004. It took me about 6 months to plan the logistics of bringing her from Mexico to Japan. Since I had to fly via the U.S. on Mexicana Airlines and Korean Airlines, that meant 4 countries and two airlines would need to approve her transport. There were many details to keep track of for each country and airline. After 6 months of stressful planning, 16 hours of two airline flights and layovers, She made it to Japan safely! Korean Air allowed her to fly with me as my carry-on luggage, which was a relief for me. No worrying about whether she was scared or left at the Los Angeles airport! I didn't give her any tranquilizer to sedate her. Yet, she was quiet the entire flight and went unnoticed by other passengers. I h
