Cycling for Autumn Shadows

sunday bike ride oct.31.2010
"... -  a feeling of much space. It is a very beautiful world."  1942 Georgia O'keefe in a letter to Arthur Dove
Autumn's here and the mountains have snow already.

Pictures from my bike ride last Sunday.    The trail pictured above meanders through neighborhoods along the old sugarpine railroad trail.  At the outermost part, where the city is still somewhat sparse, the foothills are still visible from the bike trail.  My hometown just approved a measure to further develop the bike trails and bike lanes.  Yes!

When my parents first moved to what was then the outskirts of the city, I could walk in the fields near my home and view those same foothills and mountains in the above left photo.  The fields are now homes and shopping centers, but my fond memories of those walks with my dog still remain.

I've spent the week reading O'keefe's biography.  I can understand her love for the foothills and the ever-changing landscape.

Happily you can ride to any summit in your lovely area, and the higher you climb, the lovelier the view. Shadows are a great subject, and your efforts leave us to view a beautiful montage!

I love how you've displayed the photos! You're so lucky to have such a beautiful location to ride around in. I'm off for a bike ride later this afternoon but my ride will not be as pretty as yours :)

Hey it's so great to see you on Facebook too! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Love the shadows. You live is a beautiful area, so happy that they are going to put in more paths instead of more streets.

Hi,

these are lovely shadows, and I just love the colors of the tree leaves....

I'm just waiting for the fall colors to take shape here in the South West, and I can't wait for the snow also....

I have a Tag/Award for you on my blog, so I hope you will come and play....

Funny, your still in Autumn season, while me is now struggling to a cold winter.

It was forecasted that this winter is worser than last year §;-(

Ohhh... so calm J! It feels so comfy seeing you in a very crisp shadow.

Happy week days, dear friend.

xoxo as always,

Love that shadow shot. And your mountains look very Georgia Okeefe. We drove through NM this spring and these are very reminiscent of the landscape there. You would love the Okeefe museum or perhaps you have been. It was wonderful, but we missed her home betwen Taos & Santa Fe.

Thank you for your visits.

Zendot, I hope to get out to NM someday. If I do, I'll definitely try to visit the o'keefe museum.

Married Shadows

My husband and I haven't had a T.V. for the last 15 years, maybe more, so we often go to see movies at the Cinema. The last couple of ones that I've enjoyed have been Transformers II and Terminator IV. Two more of my favorites are Slumdog Millionare and Milk. These latter two were well done movies from all angles (acting, script, cinematography). This is us after an afternoon at the movies and eating out. We had just come from Starbucks and were heading to the train station. For more shadow shots and to learn how to join this Meme, please visit Hey Harriet's blog .
