Figure Drawing, sunday sketches

Joy Sept 16 2010
Joy, Sept, 2010
In September 2010, I had the chance to attend a live model drawing session.  The image above is the original drawing.

original drawing, figure, pencil conte crayon white charcoal
I've redrawn the sketch from that day several times and altered it each time.  I shortened the body and gave it more of a curve.   The above was a study in shade and form.  I used this figure in the final painting for my up-coming exhibition at the Rogue Art and Music Festival.

I hope everyone is having a good Sunday.  We've got sunshine and spring-like weather, so I'll be out on the bicycle today.

Amazing! I love that you go back to the original and alter it repeatedly. What a great idea.

I did not ask you how your Mom is doing with her treatments? I hope she is doing well and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mom.

Love the technical touches, with a bit of added shading, splashing wonder on the subject.

Thank you, everyone for your comments and well wishes for my exhibition.

PoeticArtist,
My Mother is hanging in there through her chemo treatments. Sweet of you to ask.

Your figure drawing is amazing. I would love to have an op to attend such a class. Maybe someday. :)

Best of luck with your upcoming exhibition. How cool is that?

This is lovely, Juana... I love the fluidity and aliveness of the pose and your technique to execute it! Life drawing is such a challenge I find. When hubby & I live in the city we used to go to life drawing classes sometime and it was fun. We miss that, as where we are now there are no such classes. Be we still draw. ;o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

Wonderful figure studies... nothing like a good life drawing session to stretch the drawing muscles (I'm hoping to feel well enough to make it to one later this week).
