poloroid land 95b, sunday sketches

My latest addition to the sketchbook project 2012 is a drawing of my Father's poloroid land 95b. It's a fold-out camera that is well-built and heavy. A person could definitely work the arm muscles carrying this around. I love all the metal and the faux-leather casing. Unfortunately, the film for this camera is no longer available. I found information on how to convert it to take today's type of film, but it's very involved and requires sawing.   Not sure if I want to try it.

This is the drawing in pencil.

This is the final version after being edited in gimp.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and wishing you all a creative and productive week.

this is such an interesting work. Too bad they don't make film for it anymore.

nice work. I love the back story as well. there is something so humbling about vintage pieces a reminder of how hard people really had to work, at everything, especially to capture a great photo or render a fabulous painting. I agree, wouldn't want to cut it up either.

You are so creating such wonderful pieces of art..
I also have a camera like that. I love old vintage. I do not think I would want to change anything about it. Yet it would be nice to take photos with it.

Wow this is really good! I really like the overall vintage effect of the pen and ink and I really impressed with the hatching quality of the vector.

Great to have you back here, Juana, and with new art too! What a camera! It reminds me of some we saw recently at an exhibit of photographic equipment. Amazing how huge cameras once were. These pocket-sized one's now are almost laughably tiny by comparison. So nice you have your Dad's camera though. I like how each study of the camera here has a different feel. I think the pencil sketch really captures the vintage feel of the camera, it's history, it's story. The gimp'ed version seems to bring it very much into the modern world. Very interesting! Happy Creative week, my friend! And thank you for your very kind thoughts on my painting. :o) ((HUGS))

I like the old-fashion camera. it reminds me what a long way we from. digital is definitely not the same as film.

Love this drawing...the high contrast. I also love that you can tell it's a camera, but it still maintains an abstract quality. Beautiful!

wow I love this drawing. It is deliciously realistic, yet quirky in a way that is very you. Love the shading. And what a fun subject
