Brain Mapping, pen and watercolor collage on paper

I've had the brain mapping idea since before I left Japan and I'm finally beginning this series.

I listen to Pandora to discover new music, and recently I've been purchasing my favorites on itunes. The latest group of purchases include rhythmic tones and emotion inducing verses: Summoning of the Muse by Dead Can Dance, Box of Stones by Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Thinking about you by Big Scary, 34 Ghosts IV by Nine Inch Nails and Emergency Trap by Mogwai.

I can easily get lost listening to music while drawing.
Do you have something going on in the background when you're creating?  Or do you prefer silence?

I'm a bit late, but I'm joining Sofia's Sunday Sketches.

This is wonderful. I love the mix of space and detail.

fun to hear the latest music that has got you. I mostly do everything in silence. Though sometimes I will have a movie or music going.

This new mapping series is BRILLIANT, Juana! I love the idea of this. And this image has such a sweet beauty about it. I like how you add just a subtle bit of color. Thank you for the great music recommendations. I must see about these, the Nine Inch Nails especially. Times in my studio vary a lot in terms of what kind of soundscape is going on. Some days, depending on mood and what I'm working on, I want music, and then other times pure silence. I like music or a little talk radio--depending on what's on, but not TV. I hardly watch TV at all anyway--maybe time to ditch the gray box in the living room, make some space. ;o) Happy week, my friend. ((HUGS)) P.S. your package is on its way. :o)

What an intriguing sketch.......my eye travels around and is caught up in the details. I also like the touch of color and shape.

My latest CD I listen to when painting is Girish. Otherwise, I open the door and listen to the sounds of nature :)

d_ann, thank you for your lovely comments.

Tammie, if like you, I could go to a lake and draw, I would definitely go without the music:)

Tracy, I wait with full anticipation for those pretty earring from your shop! Although, I know some people create while watching t.v. I'm like you. TV doesn't inspire me.

Joanne, thank you for the lovely visit. I'll have to check out Girish! Nature is beautiful music too.

Married Shadows

My husband and I haven't had a T.V. for the last 15 years, maybe more, so we often go to see movies at the Cinema. The last couple of ones that I've enjoyed have been Transformers II and Terminator IV. Two more of my favorites are Slumdog Millionare and Milk. These latter two were well done movies from all angles (acting, script, cinematography). This is us after an afternoon at the movies and eating out. We had just come from Starbucks and were heading to the train station. For more shadow shots and to learn how to join this Meme, please visit Hey Harriet's blog .
