life cycle

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.
Some see nature all ridicule and deformity... and some scarce see nature at all.
But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself."

-- William Blake

drift wood
driftwood, port townsend beach

There are many twisted, misshapen driftwood trees that I find on our walks along the shoreline, and I wonder how far or short they have travelled. No longer rooted in the soil their contribution to the land still continues in one way or another.

My walks in the forest offer me the chance to understand when a life passes, a new life begins. The pain and healing are visible, tangible.

I heard that a fallen tree takes around 100 years to completely dissolve into the ground. During that long interval, other forms of life begin and feed off of the dead tree.

With each goodbye, a healing time begins. And then life blooms again.

So much to learn from nature. Trees are great spiritual teachers, I think. These images are just GORGEOUS, Juaua...really breathtaking. The tender beauty of life is held within them, and at the same time that letting go. Great to catch up with you! I've been offline a few days having some fun, just now surfacing! :o) Happy Weekend ((HUGS))

Love the quote, love the driftwood. Wood is so imagination-provoking, in my opinion.

Married Shadows

My husband and I haven't had a T.V. for the last 15 years, maybe more, so we often go to see movies at the Cinema. The last couple of ones that I've enjoyed have been Transformers II and Terminator IV. Two more of my favorites are Slumdog Millionare and Milk. These latter two were well done movies from all angles (acting, script, cinematography). This is us after an afternoon at the movies and eating out. We had just come from Starbucks and were heading to the train station. For more shadow shots and to learn how to join this Meme, please visit Hey Harriet's blog .
