a little earth to walk on

The Oresteia

How do we hang on to moments that are dear to us? When I'm hiking, I often stop along the way to listen. I listen to the wind in the trees, the squirrels and the birds. Lately, the rains have released all the scents of the forest, and I breathe in deeply the wonderful earth.

Then there are the other moments that can only be memories. Memories that come to me in dreams, through dishes my Mom used to make, through the old photographs my Father took of us growing up, songs he liked or through the Spanish language my Mom spoke.

As a child, I loved reading books, and I'm trying to rekindle that love. This week, I've been reading The Oresteia by Aeschylus, Robert Fagles translation. There is a kind of peace and expansion that reading brings on.

What are you holding onto this week?

Wonderful post ~ I think of Bob Hope who ended every act with 'Thanks for the Memories' ~ so I hold on to the loving memories of all those who have gone before me and feel their love ~ (A Creative Harbor) ^_^

This is so lovely, Juana. I want to sit and hold this gentle for a while. This ties in so well with my focus on gratitude this month. The autumn holidays find me sifting through memories more often. And as we prepare to travel to visit my family for Thanksgiving soon, I find a lot of happy memories surfacing as I go throughout my day. And I can relate to the peace & expansion of reading that you describe! Happy Days, my friend ((HUGS)) P.S. The redecorating continues. The living room/studio is being painted now!

There is a gentle quiet about this post that I love. Taking in and holding moments through the senses ... mindful.

Married Shadows

My husband and I haven't had a T.V. for the last 15 years, maybe more, so we often go to see movies at the Cinema. The last couple of ones that I've enjoyed have been Transformers II and Terminator IV. Two more of my favorites are Slumdog Millionare and Milk. These latter two were well done movies from all angles (acting, script, cinematography). This is us after an afternoon at the movies and eating out. We had just come from Starbucks and were heading to the train station. For more shadow shots and to learn how to join this Meme, please visit Hey Harriet's blog .
