In the meantime, I have been pretty productive with my 100 Self Portraits project. Watching the birds that come to the bird feeders has been my daily dose of joy.

The main focus of the trip for me was to tour the Victorian Radicals exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum.
As usual, we got to Seattle on public transportation: bus, ferry, and train
We started off the day with a cup of coffee at a cafe on the 40th floor. From there, I headed over to the Seattle Art Museum

This was our second time this year to stay there. Both times we have stayed in the main log building. It is old and creaky which is part of its charm. The rooms in the main log building do not have a T.V. and I love that feeling of getting away from it all.

We cycled down the Larry Scott trail several years ago when we took a bike tour and camped at the Fort Townsend State Park. The trail extends even further so we returned to Port Townsend and revisited the trail. Jefferson County provides a nice map of the trail here:

The weekend of July 21 we hopped on a bus with the bicycles which took us a couple of hours North. After checking into a local Inn, we rode the bicycles about 5 miles further north to a lavender farm.
The day was pleasantly warm and the views of the farms, fields and ocean were spectacular.

The parent birds continue to come by with their fledglings. I think the fledgling above is a House Finch sitting between the two American Finches. It's fun to see the birds mixing amongst each other.

April started out with lots of rainy and cloudy days. Luckily, there was always a couple of hours each day where the rain stopped and I could go hiking in the local trails.

It was a magical day! I wasn't sure where would be the best spot to view the solar eclipse, so I hopped on my bicycle and rode into town. I live in a small town and I am amazed each day by this community. When I arrived at the grassy area that overlooks Saratoga passage, I saw that the town council had set up a long line of chairs for viewers. Seattle seen from Bainbridge ferry
We took a short trip to Bainbridge Island for a mid-week getaway. We did the trip entirely without a car. Somehow in all my planning, I forgot to map out the way from the ferry to the hotel. After asking two kind strangers for directions, we finally arrived at the hotel. We lucked out and could check into our room at 9:30 a.m. Hurray!

I wasn't going to be able to make the sister march in Seattle and was hoping my little town, Langley, would have a sister march. The Solo Bicycle Tour
Last May in 2015, the idea to do a solo bicycle tour popped into my head. As 2016 came around, I started seriously considering the trip and began planning in February. Learning how to do simple bike repairs, mapping a safer route, and getting back into shape after a lazy winter were checked off my list.

I walk to the store most days. If I have a lot to bring home, I take my bicycle or my husband comes with me. Tuesday we decided to go for a long walk and do the grocery shopping. On my daily walks into town, I've been noticing the green stalks peaking out of the soil in gardens I pass along the way. The crocuses are already blooming in the garden at the post office. Some days feel warmer than others hinting that Spring is on her way.
