What I've learned from my Cat

Juana's Eye
Juana's eye, sketch in pencil

It was past midnight, and I realised the day had passed without me getting my 365 days of art piece done.  I got out of bed and grabbed my sketchbook, pencil, 3 inch mirror, and itouch. The itouch gave me a bit of light and the mirror gave me a bird's eye view of my face. A few nights earlier, I had sketched my husband's eye and nose, so it was fitting to get the same of me.

I've been busy preparing for my exhibition which is just a few weeks away and just trying to keep up with life.  In my fury of stress, I looked over at Sputnik, my siamese cat, and smiled as she delicately cleaned her front paws and cheeks.   I was editing the above sketch in gimp and stopped to write these thoughts.

What I've learned from my Cat

On rainy days, it's best to cuddle.

Do what you love when you get the chance.  You never know when the next time will come around.

Take that nap.  You'll feel better.  And if you have someone to cuddle with, enjoy those moments.

Habits are good.

Have an escape plan.  You just might need it.

On sunny days, take notice.

Have your place where you can leave your crap.  No one needs to see that.

Have fun.

Eat when you're hungry.  Drink plenty of water.

Enjoy your bath time.

Have your safe place.

Sleep matters.

Hairballs are no fun but they are not worth keeping.

And, we truly do have 9 lives.  Who you are today may not be who you are tomorrow.

Great eye sketch! In the dark? Yes you can learn a lot from a cat, I also have learned a lot from my dog.

Oh, hilarious - I love the 'escape plan,' and the 'sleep matters.' We just need to listen to our cats, don't we? I've got one for you - my cat plays fetch! No kidding! She'll bring her tinkerbell ball to us ten, twenty times to get a nice pat and a rub, and then off again to chase it! Crazy!

Color cat, that must be so fun to fetch with your kitty! My cat gets lost in thought midway and forgets what she was chasing.

Miss Becky, thank you for your comment and visit.

Blue-eyed Siamese Cat flies to Japan

Today was filled with my art and time with Sputnik. She was bathing herself which gave me the chance to catch a photo of her. I actually adopted Sputnik as a kitten in 1998 when I was living in Mexico. She made the long trip with me to Japan on July 25, 2004. It took me about 6 months to plan the logistics of bringing her from Mexico to Japan. Since I had to fly via the U.S. on Mexicana Airlines and Korean Airlines, that meant 4 countries and two airlines would need to approve her transport. There were many details to keep track of for each country and airline. After 6 months of stressful planning, 16 hours of two airline flights and layovers, She made it to Japan safely! Korean Air allowed her to fly with me as my carry-on luggage, which was a relief for me. No worrying about whether she was scared or left at the Los Angeles airport! I didn't give her any tranquilizer to sedate her. Yet, she was quiet the entire flight and went unnoticed by other passengers. I h
