yellow hot chili peppers, zumba and bicycles

hot yellow chili peppers

Being of Mexican heritage I love anything and everything hot. My favorite pickled chilies are locally grown and bottled in California. They are tangy and hot. I usually have 3 -5 of them with tacos or tostadas.

What do chilies have to do with Zumba? It's another form of salsa:) My sister introduced me to the salsa-based workout. It's alot of fun dancing and laughing at myself while I try to do some of the hip-hop and latin dance moves.

Which leads me to the bicycle ride my husband and I took last Sunday. We were riding side by side and exploring a new area. We couldn't go straight as it was a T-zone. With my husband on my right side, I looked left to make sure no cars were coming.  When I looked right, my husband was looking right as well. We were in the middle of deciding against the neighborhood, so I took it as a sign that we going to the bike trail. I turned right and realized too late that he was not turning right. My bike crashed into his and locked up. I couldn't get off the bike or control my own. Next, I'm flying in the air and thinking "Roll, Juana, Roll!" I did roll but that was cut short by my body slapping the pavement. No broken bones or even bruises for either of us, but I pulled a leg muscle and threw my back out, so there was no Zumba or gym for a week.

Good news is after a week of rest, the muscles repaired and I got zumba in on Friday.

Hope everyone is having a good shadow shot weekend. Visit HeyHarriet's blog to join the fun.

Perhaps a few of these pickled peppers will cure all that ails. I like tangy and add the occasional heat to many dishes - although growing up in NJ, food was not spicy at all. So the spicy quotient learning is ongoing for me. I hope for smoother bicycle rides!
The chiles are lovely and so are their shadows!

WELCOME THE SHADOWS

Welcome the shadows surrounding your life,
Treat them as lover or husband or wife;
Welcome them in as you would one who’s dear;
Hug them, embrace them without any fear;
Honor, respect them, and give them their due,
For shadow and light are both parts of you.

Oooh such tasty looking peppers! The bright yellow makes a nice change from the usual red pepper colour.

Thank goodness you didn't hurt yourself too badly with your bike accident! Zumba is all the rage here but I've not tried it yet. It does sound fun the way you've described it. Have a happy and accident-free week ahead :)

I have two sisters in law that are of Hispanic heritage and one taught me to cook with peppers!! We've grown them in our garden and it's become a family ritual with 'newbies' to taste the HOTTEST of them all...just to see if they can withstand the 'heat' from it...if they can, they're "IN". LOL

Beautiful yellow...and great shadow.

Great photo, I love the look of peppers as their colors are so vibrant but alas can't eat them unless they are mild and sweet. So glad you were not seriously injured.

Blue-eyed Siamese Cat flies to Japan

Today was filled with my art and time with Sputnik. She was bathing herself which gave me the chance to catch a photo of her. I actually adopted Sputnik as a kitten in 1998 when I was living in Mexico. She made the long trip with me to Japan on July 25, 2004. It took me about 6 months to plan the logistics of bringing her from Mexico to Japan. Since I had to fly via the U.S. on Mexicana Airlines and Korean Airlines, that meant 4 countries and two airlines would need to approve her transport. There were many details to keep track of for each country and airline. After 6 months of stressful planning, 16 hours of two airline flights and layovers, She made it to Japan safely! Korean Air allowed her to fly with me as my carry-on luggage, which was a relief for me. No worrying about whether she was scared or left at the Los Angeles airport! I didn't give her any tranquilizer to sedate her. Yet, she was quiet the entire flight and went unnoticed by other passengers. I h
