happiness is ...

fawn We got our first overnight bike tour in this week. At our first rest stop, we saw a mother doe and her two fawns. Happiness is a sweet fawn. phone booth The southern half of the island that we live on offers free local calls at convenient phone booth locations like this state park where we used the restrooms and saw the fawn. We don't have cell phones, so having this convenience makes me happy. forth worden state park, port townsend I loved the park we stayed in (Fort Worden). This has been the quietest State park to sleep in. And the day we arrived, we went hiking for a few hours, so we slept well that day. Coming home meant riding for three hours in the rain. Even with the rain, it was a great trip and I already want to go again soon! joining happiness is at 52 photos Just a quick note: my art blog has moved to http://GalleryJuana.com .

what's in bloom

daisy in shade with sunlit background I will be the gladdest thing under the sun! I will touch a hundred flowers and not pick one. Edna St. Vincent Millay Daisies come up here and there. I didn't plant these. They are in the neighbor's yard (which is actually a vacant house), and I get to enjoy the daisies from my patio. neighborhood deer The deer come through almost daily. I was sitting out on the patio when she came into the neighbor's yard. I was trying to focus my camera and she heard the zoom lens. I took the shot before she wandered off. The lens focused on the bushes rather than the deer, but I love that look of hers. This year I thought I'd try my hand at growing cherry tomatoes. As we are renting, it's a potted garden. I planted these from seeds and they have been growing beautifully. The deer lopped off the first bloom of flowers. I need to buy some chicken wire to keep these recent blooms going. cherry to

marina in miniature mode My canon G9 stopped working on New Year's day 2014, and I was ready finally to get a new digital camera and got it just yesterday. I settled on a canon sx-50 hs which has a nice zoom lens.  Maybe now I can get better shots of all the bird life on this island! It also has some fun settings like fish-eye, miniature, soft light, and toy camera. Oh what fun I'm going to have learning what this camera can do! joining 52 photos Just a quick note: my art blog has moved to http://GalleryJuana.com .
