2014 favorites

What I loved about 2014 was that my husband and I had even more bicycle adventures than the year before. We even got a bicycle overnighter in for the winter by staying at a hotel. When I called the hotel to see if they had a place for us to park our bicycles outside, they advised us we could bring the bicycles in our room.

We had a waterview suite with a fireplace and a bay window. It was so relaxing to watch the ferries and tug boats come and go. We'll definitely return to this hotel during the colder months when the campgrounds are closed.

Our hardest bike tour for 2014 was to Orcas island. We got up at 4 a.m., had breakfast, packed and were on the road by 6 just as the sun was rising. Many miles and hours later, we got off the ferry onto Orcas island. It was a hot and humid day with hill after hill to climb, so when we got to the entrance of the park, we truly felt like we had reached the finish line.

I really am grateful for having a good and long summer this year…
