Cats and Dogs

Luna, cafe dog

At the beginning of April I took a long bike ride - 38 miles- before the Spring rains returned. I'm hoping to get another ride in this week. I stopped at a cafe and met Luna. Her owner was inside and she kept me company at the outdoor table where I was sitting. She didn't quite know what to think of having her photo taken.

On my walk to the market, I meet these outdoor cats everyday. They have been spayed and released to where they were found and have been living in place for a few years now. The man in the red jacket comes by every morning to feed them and another woman in the afternoon to check their bedding/cat houses and health. The cats know everyone's schedules and will often see me before I even see them.

Since I can't have any pets due to my rental lease, it warms my heart to be able to have these daily visits with these community cats and the dogs I meet along the way. And because of these cats, I've made some new human friends.

I am glad that the cats know you, Juanita. And getting to make friends because of a per? I would tell my college age students tha a good way yo meet neighbors was to have and then walk a pet strangers will stop and talk with the pet and/or its owner. Next best way is to borrow a cup of sugar. Then bring the person you met a piece of what you baked. When you get some more sugar return what you have borrowed. That's meeting a newer son three times. Who knows, it could develop into a friendship.

LUNA... how sweet she is!! She looks young, so maybe she's still getting used to cameras. She's so photogenic, she'll have to get used it. ;) And how wonderful those folks looking after the cats! So glad you have some fur-friend to meet along the way, Juana :) Happy Spring Days ((HUGS))

I'm thrilled to hear that someone is taking care of those feral cats. There are so many out there surviving on their own. Seeing them cared for would warm my heart too.

Wow...38 miles is a long bike ride!

So nice that the cats have been fixed and people care for them. It's good they enjoy your visits.

Blue-eyed Siamese Cat flies to Japan

Today was filled with my art and time with Sputnik. She was bathing herself which gave me the chance to catch a photo of her. I actually adopted Sputnik as a kitten in 1998 when I was living in Mexico. She made the long trip with me to Japan on July 25, 2004. It took me about 6 months to plan the logistics of bringing her from Mexico to Japan. Since I had to fly via the U.S. on Mexicana Airlines and Korean Airlines, that meant 4 countries and two airlines would need to approve her transport. There were many details to keep track of for each country and airline. After 6 months of stressful planning, 16 hours of two airline flights and layovers, She made it to Japan safely! Korean Air allowed her to fly with me as my carry-on luggage, which was a relief for me. No worrying about whether she was scared or left at the Los Angeles airport! I didn't give her any tranquilizer to sedate her. Yet, she was quiet the entire flight and went unnoticed by other passengers. I h
