We got more hikes in during the month of September. The long walks in the forest gave me more opportunities to let my thoughts wander on my art and the moments that make up my day.

"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self."
~ Aristotle
The change of seasons and the "new perspective" prompt also spurred me to think about how I want to shape the remainder of this year.

A book should serve as the ax for the frozen sea within us.

I decided I wanted to read more and needed some way to encourage that habit. A couple of months ago, I heard about Cousera. This organization offers free courses online with professors from universities throughout the U.S.A. How cool is that!
I signed up for the Greek Mythology course. My goal and this course fit perfectly, so I've begun reading Homer's Odyssey. Although, I've read it before, I'm getting more of the background to the story through this course.

Although September had a couple of rough weeks because of a seasonal cold, it's been a good month. I got a lot done even on my worst days.
On one of our walks, upon saying good morning to a local, he responded, "Everyday is a good day. You just gotta open your eyes."
